media player in chromium OS

Hi All,

 

I cloned the chromium os source code through gclient.

 

1. how to clone the multimedia related modules and what are they?

 

2. how to link these modules with chromium os source code and how to build together?

 

3. I see mm-core, mm-audio, mm-video git repositories -- are these three repos enough to get the multimedia code?

 

4. Is there any media player for local files playback in chromium OS? if so in which part of the code/git it is?

 

5. one more question i have is how a video clip in youtube is able to play in chromium browser? from where it is picking the codecs etc.

 

6. I tried to play a local .mp4 video clip of QCIF video and aac audio in my PC booted with chromium os from a uSB key. it opens a media player but nothing is rendered. so is the media player in chromium os fully up?

hi

There is an inbuild media-player in chromium .But as u said it is not
able to play music it is because the audio codec present in chromium
is not complete.That means because of some patent issue chromium does
not contain the complete audio codec .So to make mp3 play copy the
libffmpegsumo.so present in /opt/google/chrome present in Google
chrome to chromium's /opt/google/chrome.
Then the media player will work fine.....
