can i compile c/c++ code on chromeos?

a c/c++ code printing hello world ,is there any method to compile and run?
must i build a image ?

currently, you have to put the device into Dev mode and then install a distro in a chroot (like crouton). or ssh to a different computer that is running Linux.

I've been pretty impressed by the Koding.com Chrome App.  (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/terminal/kogcfmeennoidocadkgjhnbancebmlbf)

It appears like you are opening a Terminal tab in ChromeOS, but it's really ssh'ing you to a hosted VM running your choice of OS.  Their free tier of service is entirely usable.  You can sign in with your github account which is also pretty convenient.
