i want to transfer data between macbook to chromebook (into /usr/local)
 directory.
I have tried with scp  :

 scp /Users/abhijitz/Desktop/19march_filesList.csv
 abh...@gmail.com:/usr/local

every time i am getting connection timeout error.

Please let me know how i can transfer the file or multiple file from macbook
 to chromebook.

I've had similar difficulties with scp.  I believe the issue is related to my sftp configuration, but I find it interesting your experiencing the same issue.

ssh only works if you put the chromebook into dev mode first.  then you ssh/scp to the IP address of the machine itself.  you can't ssh to gmail.com.

Mike
I understand that, didn't look closely at the previous posters example.  While in Dev mode and in shell I attempt to scp to my server with valid credentials and get a timeout after the password challenge. I can ssh to the server just fine, but scp fails.  I suspect an issue with my sftp config.

you can use -dddd locally to spit out more information

you should also look at the server logs to see why it disconnected

Scp -dddd ? I'll give it a try.  /var/log a safe bet for sftp logs?

Thanks

probably, but it depends on the distro and the logger you decided to run
