Alright...I know this is NOT a new topic but I need some help and thought I'd give this a shot.

Got a Samsung Chromebook that didn't work when I got it...no labels on top tell me what it is specifically. It's giving me the dreaded "No OS found" message and I followed directions to create a recovery stick. The HWID is SNOW BAR AA-J 0115 and the error after the tab key press is TPM error in read-only firmware.

Follow the instructions to insert Recovery stick and the screen goes black...and stays there!  Nothing else happens. The screen will eventually shut off...and a key press will bring it back...to the same black screen!

Is this just a paperweight now and am just having fun wasting my time or is there a fix that i can use to get it running again?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the matter!

Paul,

Is this under warranty? If so I'd just take it back under warranty.

Unfortunately, the error "TPM error in rewritable firmware" cannot be recovered from.

There is a weird trick that does work for some users at Chromebook Central, though.

Power on your Chromebook ONLY using the Power button.
Wait 30 seconds.
Power off (with Power button)
Repeat 20 to 25 times.

Let me know what happens.

Hope this helps!

My bad... I should have stated it CAN in fact be recovered from, just using that trick above. Using the Recovery Utility and USB will not work.

You'll know that the trick works if you see the Chrome logo and the Chromebook boots up normally.
