I believe you need to have your slate in developer mode to sideload applications..

Correct. Enable developer mode and then use android settings to enable
side loading.

Putting your Chromebook in Developer mode will powerwash your CB. Make sure you backup your Linux apps. You may need to enable Linux backup in Chrome://flags. Backup your Downloads folder.
Once you are in developer mode you can restore your Linux apps.

Thanks fellas,

We have already put the device in developer mode of chrome OS also the android dev settings have been enabled and USB debug options are enabled.
Yet we couldn't see the device popup in the Android studio on PC to install via USB.

Under Android settings / Security do you have Unknown Sources selected?
I usually just open the Files app in Chrome, select the file, right-click and use the Package Installer.

One should not install Android apps. They're not OpenSource, they may spy
after you and may phoning "home".

this isn't the place to spread FUD.  if you don't like/use Android apps, that's fine, but keep it to yourself (or some other forum).

there are legitimate reasons to discourage Unknown Sources, but this isn't it, nor is it applicable to this thread (where OP wants to develop an Android app).

I think it‘s legimitid warning, nothing more. And the OP is free to ignore it.

the OP is developing an Android app. the behavior of other apps is irrelevant here.

making unsubstantiated (and easily refuted) generalizations as to open source status or spying behavior of apps is fud and off topic.

it's also ironic given you apparently use an iPhone which, by pretty much every metric, is significantly less open source friendly than Android.

With the iPhone you are fully correct. I normaly only use FreeBSD (btw: on a Chromebook) and an Ubuntu Phone. I have to carry this iPhone for a RSA app to connect to my company network. I would never use this for anything where privacy matters. And I‘m expecting my L5 of puri.sm
I‘m one of the people who backed this OpenSource project. But it‘s now really offtopic, while the warning was not.
