Does anyone have any advice on what might be happening in my instance? I properly boot from the USB to the setup screen, but my mouse does not function and no networks are detected. I can tab around to get to the different keyboard, language, and network menus. However, networks tells me that none are detected.

Any advice?

Try one of the older versions from linux.dell.com/files/cto to see if the network drivers from those work. Avoid the Feb20 version, as a couple of people have reported problems booting that image.

Which build are you using?

My image file came from this website. I'm in the process of downloading the 4/15/12 image from the link you provided me. Is there not a more up to date image between 4/15/12 and 2/20/13?

Update on that - I downloaded the image from your linked site and I do now have mouse capabilities, but still no wireless connectivity. Clicking the "Select a network" dropdown menu gives me "No networks are available"

Follow up question: tried to get in with a wired connection, but no go. Is there a way to boot with a wired connection?

I have not tried a wired connection in a year or so, so I am not sure. You might want to bring up a shell and do some poking around. _lsusb_ should give you an idea of what wireless card you have, and might show the device info for the wired connection. _ifconfig -a_ should also show something related to ethernet. If it doesn't, then the OS is not seeing the hardware, most likely due to missing drivers.

How do I get into a shell without being able to get into the OS? I can't get into the OS since I can't connect to the internet.

Try typing ctrl-alt-right arrow (f2) and see if that brings up the console.

That was exactly it. I got into the console earlier today and was able to run those commands and boot up with wifi. Thanks for your help!

Sweet! I was going to also mention ctrl-alt-t to bring up a terminal window, but I think  Chromium has to finish booting up before that will work.

That is correct. It has to boot into the "desktop" before CTRL+ALT+T works. The only thing bugging me now is mouse acceleration (which I've mentioned in other threads). Is there a known fix for how to speed it up?

The only thing I can think of at the moment is to try playing with the touchpad speed in Settings. I bet there is a config file somewhere that could be edited to increase speed or acceleration. I will ponder that one a bit.

I've cranked it up in settings to no avail. I'm sure something will come up soon enough. There's probably a fix out there that I haven't stumbled on yet.

Your mouse wouldn't be a Microsoft mouse, would it? People are reporting that many Microsoft ones seem to have driver issues. In any case, it does seem to depend on which mouse you use ;-\

"I can confirm the same issue with some mice. The mouse is slow and pointer speed has no effect on a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1A USB and PS/2 Compatible. Plugging in a Logitech generic mouse (M90?) to the same setup gives me faster tracking and the pointer speed slider seems to make a difference. I plugged both mice into a Ubuntu 12.04 PC to get the lsusb -vvv output:"

It's the touchpad on my Dell laptop. It uses Synaptics drivers for Windows, and I BELIEVE I remember seeing something about that last night (but I was more concerned with getting wifi working at that point).

Check out the files in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ and in particular the 50-touchpad-cmt.conf file. There was a thread back around Jan 11th where a ton of people were discussing the issues surrounding synaptics touchpad drivers.

Here is a like to that thread.

The script didn't fix my slow touchpad, but it's still usable, so no big deal. I've also run the script to install Flash, and the browser shows that it's installed, but no videos will play. Could I be missing a step?

That sometimes happens when installing Flash. Just run this script again and see what happens. Sometimes that just fixes the problem:

this thread has no relation to the panda board.  please do not hijack existing threads.  start a new one rather than just hitting "reply all".

Thank you

I'm currently having the same issue as well. When I boot from usb, I am able to select my language, my keyboard setup, but under network, it says "No networks are available"  I've tried pressing F2 to enable my wifi, I've tried using the ctrl-alt-right arrow, the ctrl-alt-F2, and I've even tried to connect through a Ethernet cable. Still no network able. I am trying to use the 4/20 build, and will soon try an earlier build.  Any help???

You r lucky, i didn't even get my trackpad working!
The network prob because their is a broadcom chip in most dell devices and it doesn't work with chromium os out of the box!!

I'm probably jumping a thread midway here, but what builds are you using on your Dell? If they are developer builds, the ctl-alt-right arrow (Note that right arrow is really the F2 key on most keyboards. It is not the right arrow by the number pad) will take you to VT2 where you can login as root.

The problem is.... When I get to dev mode to ligin as chronos with the password face punch, It won't let me enter a password. It will let me enter the username. I press enter. Then it takes me to password.... But it doesn't work. Press enter again and I get a message that says incorrect login/password

what do you mean "doesn't work"? try test0000 as the password.

if you got the image from somewhere, then you should check with them to see what the default password is.

You type it when you see the regular Chromium OS UI, e.g. the login screen or the network and language selection screen.

Hi, I am completely new to this, so please forgive the obvious questions.  I've installed Hexxeh's Vanilla chromium build on an old Dell Studio.  Everything is working except the wifi.  My two questions are, will the wifi work on this build?  And how do I input the recommended commands above?  I can open up the terminal and shell, but I am literally just typing in _ifconfig_a-  but it doesn't work.  Am I missing some other part of the command that I should know?

Thanks.

I have the same issue with Arnold the Bat latest "Special" build on my MBP 2011. I used the special build because its supposed to support Broadcom cards, but I am not able to get past the setup due to wifi being disabled, and unable to turn on. Cloudready and FlintOS work though. I just like the idea of running a build closer perhaps to Vanilla versus the others. People say that the firmware or drivers need to be enabled for broadcom devices, but thats beyond my understanding at the moment. I have Broadcom 43xxx.
