When I was setting up developer mode I enabled the settings so I could boot from USB etc.

I was asked to enter a password which I would be prompted to enter if I was to ssh or use Sudo commands.
Now when I go to shell and do a sudo command like: sudo crossystem dev_boot_usb=1

I'm asked for a password, I enter the password which I made when I enabled those settings (when setting up dev mode). But nothing is working.
I've also power washed and tried again leaving the password as no value, nothing is working!

I've literally tried everything including: test0000
Tried passwords like: root, password etc etc

Can someone help me out here

How are you logging into the shell, as chronos? Sorry if you already did this, but just to make sure we're on the same page, try this:

1. Powerwash
2. Enable debugging features, leaving passwords blank; make sure you get a confirmation message that everything worked.
3. Press Ctrl+Alt+F2 to get to the terminal.
4. Try logging in as user root, with password test0000.

If that doesn't work, you can try recovery (https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1080595?hl=en). That should reset to a pristine state and then you can re-enter dev mode and start again.

I press ctrl alt T. Then I type in shell. Then the sudo command.

It's very strange hmm. I'll try with the recovery.

Okay done it!

I'm not sure if it was the recovery but just for the record for any future readers. Pressing Ctrl Alt F2 (forward button) is a different UI to Ctrl Alt T (just goes to shell straight away).
After doing a recovery and leaving debugging features as default, logging in and pressing Ctrl Alt F2 and...

username as: root
password: test0000

Everything works great. Thanks guys!

Great glad you got it working!

If you're interested in more details, what happened was that "sudo" expects the password of the currently logged in user, which for the Ctrl+Alt+T terminal is "chronos". I don't actually know what the default chronos password is. Logging in as root directly on Ctrl+Alt+F2 allows you to bypass chronos altogether. (Also I think you could have done "su root" on the Ctrl+Alt+T terminal and then used the root password)

I think the chronos password is also "chronos".
