Was doing some data collection on 9765.xx OS and R61 browser on Dev channel.
I realized today, chromebook updated to 100xx OS and R63 browser. I need to roll back to previous build to continue my experiments and conclude things.

1. Is it possible to roll back to previous builds on Chromebooks ?
2. Is it possible to stop updates on Dev Channel ?

PowerWash didn't work. It just deleted logins and passwords and remained on same Dev OS.

if you're not in dev mode, it is not possible to control updates beyond selecting the current channel

Mike is correct for "general public"... but "enterprise" (i.e. education) users with admin console can control auto updates (on or off) and which channel under "Device Settings":

The only way to reliably rollback to a specific release is with recovery images for that release OR build the image yourself and boot it from USB in dev mode.

Try to catch the image you want on the internet, then boot on it:
I have not tried it but you can apparently create the recovery thing on others distro.:

With the name of my image, here is a link where you'll see that there are hacks, to create 'bootable usb  keys' on another linux distro.:

Then kill the 'update process':
sudo initctl stop update-engine
