Hi,

I'm Yuki.

On linux, chrome estimates mimetype from an extension by reading
/usr/share/mime with xdg_mime (third party library).
While Chrome OS uses same code, it cannot return mime type correctly
since it does not have /usr/share/mime.
Do you know why Chrome OS does not have the file at the path?

Thank you!

- Yuki

nothing in the installed image uses it, so we haven't bothered including it

Can we make it to include in Chrome OS?

we're not going to add it to the base OS unconditionally.  whatever package wants the files would have to be updated to depend on the mime package directly.

pretty sure the package you're looking for is x11-misc/shared-mime-info
