Hello Chromebook Developer Support!

I am a Product Manager on the Android team here at Pluto TV, and we've encountered an issue with our app related to certain Chomebook models.

Our investigation so far has led us to believe that the issue is tied to specific models of Chromebook using the Gemini Lake chipset.

Our questions are two-fold:
  1. Can someone on your team confirm if either of these models utilize the Gemini Lake chipset?

    2. https://www.amazon.com/HP-Chromebook-14-Bluetooth-Chalkboard/dp/B0851KK23N
  2. Can someone on your team let us know if there are any known issues, possibly related to hardware/video acceleration updates released in late November or early December, that might be causing issues with video playback on the Gemini Lake Chromebooks?
Thanks in advance!

Not from Google, but a quick search on the GPU model shows that both appear to be Gemini Lake.

Hi Bryan,

Yes, those are Gemini Lake devices.  If you file a bug in the public bug tracker  https://issues.chromium.org/issues (under Internals > Media > Video ), we can start debugging over there.  People from the kernel and video teams have seen your message, so just reply here with the bug number and we'll meet you in the bug report.

ChromeOS takes updates to those software layers pretty regularly, so we'll have to narrow it down once we can reproduce the issue.

Was the regression observed on the stable channel? In that case the version we may need to look into looks like the R119 release.

Thanks for your help and confirmation, everyone.

As of today, we have not been able to reproduce any issues as we haven't had a Gemini Lake Chromebook to test with, but once we get one ordered and delivered, we will file a bug ticket once we are able to provide a few more details.
