Hi,

I am somewhat familiar with building ChromeOS images as I've done that for the past few years. On my machine I can build boards like "nami" simply fine but for some reason I cannot build volteer as-is from a public checkout, even on a fresh and recent checkout. The error doesn't help me at all.

 * ERROR: chromeos-base/chromeos-ec-0.0.2-r12036::chromiumos failed (compile phase):
 *   No EC boards found.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

There have been multiple regressions in the chromeos-ec build in the past few weeks causing failure. Please try repo syncing again to TOT.

You may also have luck switching between stable and TOT;

repo init -b stable
repo init -b main

There may be a real regression again or just for volteer maybe, someone else will chime in I am sure.

I believe this is a known issue with the Boxster configuration system that Volteer uses. The firmware build targets are not currently available in the public overlays.

Hi,

So how a open source contributor able to build the image and flash it to the device?

Thanks.

I filed a partner issue on this, but can’t get the number at the moment. A lot of the upstream boards are not building: volteer, sarien, drallion, brya. So far Google is not responding.

Can you please reply to this thread when you find the bug?

Thanks,
Simon

Hi Russ,

Thanks...can you please update the bug to indicate that you have
performed the suggested steps? I'd like to get that figured out before
assigning it.

Regards,
Simon

Ok, I put in results from another attempt yesterday.

Are you also looking at the other build failures?
https://partnerissuetracker.corp.google.com/issues/215507534 brya
https://partnerissuetracker.corp.google.com/issues/216293888 drallion

Thanks.

Volteer got fixed, broke again, got fixed again. I’m on vacation so I haven’t built for a while.

But brya and drallion have failed for months now and brya is our current platform. This is a priority item.

Any progress here?

I tried suggestions but still can't build EC for fizz board with the same error.

Things break and get fixed fairly frequently (~weekly) in the tree; my personal Brya builds have been failing since yesterday morning, but according to the tree sheriff, it should build right now.  If build_packages is failing for you, I recommend syncing and retrying daily, and posting the snippet of failing build log in this thread every time.

(I don't work on EC so I can't speak about specifics, but just wanted to chime in that the tree isn't 100% stable, so failures can be transient.)
