Chromium OS doesn't use systemd. It uses Upstart.

You're gonna have a very hard time trying to get systemctl (i.e. systemd) working on Chromium OS.

Read up on upstart; it can do much of what the systemd init system can do. The 'initctl' command can do for upstart much of what 'systemctl' does for systemd. Running 'initctl help' will give some useful info. So will your favorite search engine.

There was a thread about switching to systemd a year ago, and no
resources have been committed to that project.

Chromeos uses upstart. I use this page to write conf files:

This keeps coming up regularly (annually?). I've talked (F2F) with systemd maintainers (Lennart and Kay) and they basically have the same opinion that Richard Barnett expressed in that thread: ChromeOS will get very little benefit switching to systemd since the startup scripts are already highly tuned.  Show enough benefit and switching to systemd can happen.

cheers,
grant

i believe intel is investigating things already.  they've been landing CLs to make it an option, but doing it in a way that doesn't impact any existing boards (except perhaps lakitu which uses systemd to a degree).
