Good evening,

I am unable to access the developer mode. I have pressed esc refresh power from being on and it only goes to the locked screen Also tried it from a turn off state still will not access the Developer mode.  any suggestions? I even powerwashed the device still wont access the dev mode.

Please let me know what information you will need.

Are you actually holding esc-refresh and pushing the power button? Is
the power button on the side?

You need to hold Esc and Refresh down and then tap the power button on the side. Your description sounds like you're pressing Esc+Refresh+Lock, which is not the same thing. There is a reason the top-right button on the Flip keyboard has a lock symbol drawn on it... it is not a power button.

I have figured it out. It seems that I needed to enter recovery mode and remove the SD card to get into developer mode. Now having issues with installing crouton

No USB required. Just make sure you are pressing the power button on the side of the device, not the lock button on the keyboard.

*Newbie here

When setting up developer mode last night, I was getting the yellow exclamation mark with a warning message saying something like "Chrome OS missing or damaged"

I've learned that this is a message intended to scare off casual users, but you are supposed to hit ctrl + d to bypass it.

I got as far as installing crouton, and then unity (which was my mistake because I read that the Asus Flip chip cannot handle that skin).

Unsure of how to "unistall" it I also learned you can install multiple "chroots" so I added kde, but then deciding how to start it up up got confusing so I powerwashed the chromebook and might give it a go again later today.

Loving the chromebook so far, but really wishing the desktop publishing capabilities were stronger. Microsoft online does not give me some simple graphics manipulation that a PC would for Word & Powerpoint docs. Hoping crouton/ubuntu solves that.

I was able to hack my Asus chromebook to run MS Office 2010, instructions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTpUsmof4o4.  It is doable and runs okay, but the biggest issue is space as an Office install takes most of the drive space.  I was also able to get Adobe Reader working.  Cost of install was $ for MS Office 2010 and $35 for the software to run Intel Binaries.

Thanks Patricio, that sequence got me into dev mode on the new Asus Chromebook Flip C213SA-YS02. Now to see if Gallium works.

Your answer also helped me, it works on ASUS Chromebook Flip C101PA-DB02 .

(Just adding that note here in case others are searching for that device.)

HI. I am also facing the same problem that my Chromebook Asus C100P  is refusing to go in the Dev mode. I have tried all possible suggestions on this and other forums such as holding Esc and Refresh key then press the power button once, repetitively with chromebook on as well as off. It keeps going on lock screen and not on recovery screen. The chrom://system shows Dev Mode disabled. Can any one please help me is there any other way of doing it. My OS is latest 69....

Thanks in advance
