Hi all,

I have an HP LTE chromebook 11, and it looks like Verizon is going to be sending me notices about data usage and so forth by SMS. Is there any way for me to get those messages without taking the sim card out and putting it in my phone periodically?

Thanks,
Anand

Chrome OS currently supports 3GPP SMS, but not the 3GPP2 (CDMA) SMS that Verizon uses (crbug.com/356277). Even after 3GPP2 SMS support is added to Chrome OS, we need to ensure that the modem firmware can support 3GPP2 SMS and Verizon enables the delivery of SMS alerts on data usage to our devices.

In the meantime, the best way is to check data usage is through the Verizon portal:
1. Navigate to chrome://settings (or open the system tray and click "Settings...")
2. Select "Verizon Wireless" from "Internet connection > Mobile data"
3. Click the "View account" button. The button may not appear until the device is online.
4. Log in to the Verizon portal to view how much data is left.
