I've been running crouton, but would love non-dev mode linux apps. Just bumping the conversation on asking when we can get crostini support for for what is a perfect chromebook in every other respect.

Please, whoever it is that makes those calls--make the call to enable crostini on the Asus C302CA!
...or at least give us a projected date.

Thanks,

Howdy!

Have you tried running dev channel and enabling? The compatible device list is managed by the community in the reddit wiki, i think it’s only device-locked in stable and/or beta.  Someone pls correct me if wrong.

Do keep in mind, Crouton will work on devices with no hardware virt support, but Termina depends on LXC, which requires hw virt.

Best of luck!

John,

I don't think Crostini is available yet on any Skylake devices, at least I haven't seen any reports about it.
There's even a crbug feature request for it here:
You could 'star' it but I doubt if it'll speed things along more, might even perturb the devs enough to restrict comments.

Crostini has finally landed in Cave as of v91 (Beta).  go to chrome://flags and enable "Enable VMS on Experimental kernels" then reboot.
Not sure when it happened but in 91, C302ca is running the 4.19 kernel.
