Hello,

Can someone help me with steps to install rsyslog on chrome os. Also, I am unable to access most of the path /var/log files and commands as sudo apt are not working. any suggestions what needs to be done ?
Do we need root access to install?

rsyslog is already installed in CrOS

CrOS isn't based on Debian, so apt/etc... commands will never work

please describe in detail what you're trying to actually do here

Syslog on ChromeOS is mostly routed to /var/log/messages:

See: https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6270826?hl=en#zippy=%2Cread-the-logs-manually for a more detailed list of log files (and their paths). If you put those paths in Chrome (e.g. file:///var/log/messages), you should be able to view the log contents.

Thanks for the info.
I am actually trying to forward all system and audit logs to SIEM via rsyslog. I am not able to view rsyslog.chromeos file in crOs that I can configure it.
Can you guys help with it.

Thank you
