Hello guys ,

i need your help about an issue that i have i can't install / load chromium OS on my HP Prodesk 400 G2 : when i'm booting with usb key i have the message : 'Booting local image A'  i have fixed it by creating another bootable usb key for boot legacy with this way i can boot and installing the OS with 2 usb keys but in the end and after rebooting i have another error "Booting local image B" when trying the boot from HDD ! after that i take the HDD and plug it in another HP reference : HP 3500 MT i can boot with my Chromium OS normally so it was installed successfully !!!. i suspect the compatibility between boot loader / Grub / MBR... have you any suggestion for fixing this issue plz ?

thx in advance.

Maybe you can try boot in from a Linux USB disk to use command "grub-install" to fix the booting issue.

Take a look at what "chrubuntu"[1] does in it's scripts. It's what I had to repeatedly do every time debian updated the kernel and "legacy booting" on a chromebox.

I think Kuei is right that you just need to run something like "grub-install /dev/sda --force".
(and take my advice at your own risk - this will clobber boot instructions on your HDD).

cheers

If you're willing to accept a pre-packaged solution, CloudReady from Neverware.com handles legacy vs. UEFI booting with *reasonable* grace and may do the trick here.
