Typically when I'm using Secure Shell I want to connect / mount via SFTP and SSH.

Currently: choose my connection > click Mount SFTP > Allow connection to authenticate with keys or enter password > repeat for Connect via SSH.

It's only a few extra seconds (as I tend to use keys) but I was wondering if this could be streamlined for a single (additional) button: SFTP & SSH

this is a bit hairy. we kind of want two connections so your active session has a separate stream from your files. you can break one without affecting the other, and one being busy doesn't directly impact the other.

ssh does allow for multiplexing a single connection, but that doesn't address the concerns raised above.

if the sftp UI offered an option to connect inline instead of just close/choose another connection, would that work well enough?

I can appreciate the value of separating the connections.

The inline UI idea sounds good. This FR is mostly about saving time and clicks.

Similarly, I was wondering if this was a client-side interface improvement where clicking a button fired off two separate functions (SFTP connection & SSH). Suppose the issues then would be handling the UX for entering passwords and any errors.
