I’m Yug Devang Sheth, a Computer Science and Engineering student at NIT Jaipur, passionate about improving developer tools and web platform usability. I’ve drafted a proposal for the ChromeStatus Search UI Enhancement project and would deeply appreciate your review and guidance.

📄 Attached: [GSoC 2025 Proposal – ChromeStatus Search UI (PDF)]Key Focus Areas:

• Refactoring autocomplete into a reusable component for ChromeStatus and WebStatus

• Implementing search history with LocalStorage and direct feature linking

• Adding typo correction using SymSpell and Levenshtein distance

• Mobile-first UI fixes (e.g., collapsible sidebar, sticky search bar)

• Usage analytics via Google Analytics to measure impact

Though new to Chromium’s codebase, I’ve:
✔ Set up the project locally and explored featurelist.py/autocomplete logic
✔ Prototyped typo correction with SymSpell (see Page 3 of the proposal)
✔ Participated in hackathons (mention any relevant wins/experiences)
✔ Developed proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and responsive design

I’m eager to contribute and learn from the community. Could you kindly:

1. Review the proposal for technical alignment?

2. Suggest improvements to the timeline or deliverables?

3. Clarify expectations for Phase I (e.g., priority of search history vs. mobile UI)?

I’ll submit the proposal to GSoC once I incorporate your feedback. Please reply at your earliest convenience—your mentorship would mean a lot!
