Hello mentors and admins,

 I hope you're doing well. I'm currently exploring how to fetch and manage tab data efficiently in Chromium as part of my ongoing development work. While I've been learning from various sources, I’d really appreciate it if you could suggest any documentation internal references that are particularly helpful for understanding, especially in chromium codebase.

Hello! There isn't a good doc on what you are looking for specifically. To gain that knowledge I would say your best bet is to attempt to fix more bugs, and continue reading some of the documentation within the header files of our objects until you have a good mental model of how everything interacts.

Chrome is a very large code base and some parts of it update more frequently than others (Ex: tabs) so it is hard to create a single source of documentation (it is outdated by the time you create it). 

That said a good starting point for all things tabs is tab_strip_model.h 👍

Thank you sir for your guidance. I have already started studying tab_strip_model.h . And looking at how things work. I have also gained some experience with it. Thanks again for your support.

  I have studied the TabStripModel and have experience on working with the Chromium codebase. However, I was not able to identify a suitable existing bug related to this area. As a result, I chose to focus more on the project implementation aspect, designing and developing the necessary features to enhance debugging support for the tabstrip.

Hey Ravish!

I will caution about continuing any work specifically for our project until we have officially selected our contributor / candidate for this project. We would like to avoid any situations where a contributor puts in a ton of time implementing a particular project and then end up not getting selected. 

For now, I recommend waiting until GSoC has sent an email regarding your acceptance status on this project before starting any work on it.

Thank you for the heads-up!
I completely understand and will wait for the official GSoC acceptance email before proceeding further.

That said, I just wanted to share that working on Chromium itself has been a huge learning experience for me.
Regardless of the outcome, I’ve genuinely enjoyed diving into the codebase and understanding the internals — I’m here to learn and grow, not just for selection.

Thank you for considering our project and asking many questions along the way! We really appreciated it!

I hope you found the time you spent on this project valuable, and are able to apply these skills to future efforts! This year has been more competitive than others and so coming to a final decision was not easy in the slightest.
