ExtensionInstallForcelist: This extension is not listed in the Chrome Web Store

We have customers who are deploying our extension internally from their intranet using the ExtensionInstallForcelist policy.  In the past this was allowed (on Windows) as long as the machine was a member of an Active Directory.

But now they are getting an error in the chrome://extensions page that says "This extension is not listed in the Chrome Web Store and may have been added without your knowledge".

I'm not sure how this can even happen because previously if it wasn't listed in the Chrome Web Store (which it isn't), it wouldn't get installed in the first place, the ExtensionInstallForcelist policy would just show up as "BLOCKED" and the extension would not be installed.

Was there a recent change in this area?

Thanks for flagging this. The change you mentioned does indeed sound likely to be the culprit although it is not intended to change anything for machines joined to a domain.

Is this still an issue and if so, are you sure these devices are joined? Could you follow the steps here to confirm?
