I tried searching for the extension using the keywords used in the Description field of the manifest, but I couldn't find it in the search results. Is this how it should be?

When you say search, do you mean the chrome web store search, or google search? What terms are you using?

I meant searching in Chrome Web Store. When entering "too many tabs" there is no LightWindow extension (plpimkkahcnfmlionlpbihchfoeoapjo) in the results. Although I also put this phrase in the store description, and in the last update I put it in the name. But only in the English locale, in the others I left it as before, that is, if you, for example, want to check the search for manifest description, you can substitute dialects (en-US, en-GB en-AU) in the get-parameter "hl" instead of "en" - there this phrase is still in the description.

P.S. I initially answered you via email, since your answer was published here only today, as well as mine (I don't know what happened that they are being published for so long). Then I described the situation a little differently, then I thought that LightLang (kdngjdaamkobfmjkmcilcoajbmbcpnpe) also cannot be found. But then it seems to have worked. I thought you saw my answer, but apparently I should have also specified the email of this group in the copy

After investigating this, this is the intended behavior. While keywords do go into the ranking algorithm,  they are far from the only, and actually have fairly minimal impact compared with a number of other inputs.
Here is a sample query using one of your keywords where you are ranking #2
