Was Chrome marking "discarded" tabs in some way?

I've received reports that discarded tabs are not marked as such in Chromium anymore.


makes absolutely no UI change to the discarded tabs.
Is this a regression?

I mostly use Firefox, so take this with a grain of salt, but I don't think chrome.tabs.discard has ever made visual changes to a tab in Chrome.

There is an "Inactive tabs appearance" setting. In the image, the middle tab is discarded.

Proactively discarding a tab in chrome://discards page will change the favicon and maybe when tabs are discarded through Memory Saver, but I'm pretty sure the favicon has never changed after using the chrome.tabs.discard method.
