Hi folks,

The Chrome team is exploring ways to improve the platform for developers interested in using client-side AI/ML models (models running directly in the browser). Your perspective and experience building powerful browser-based experiences are incredibly valuable to us.

Whether you're already experimenting with client-side AI (in extensions or other web projects), considering it, or facing challenges (performance, model size, etc.), we want to hear from you. We're looking to understand:

  • Current practices and challenges with client-side AI development.

  • Interest in potential future platform capabilities designed to make using AI models more efficient (like shared models to reduce redundant downloads, simplifying usage).

To gather this feedback, we've prepared short surveys (~5-7 minutes each). Your input will directly help us understand developer needs and prioritize potential solutions.

Which survey(s) should you take?

  • The general survey is the best starting point for most developers:

    • 🧠 General Web AI Development Feedback: Covers current practices, challenges, interest in client-side AI, and reactions to potential platform assistance (including model sharing/efficiency ideas).

  • If one of the specific contexts below closely matches your primary work or interest, feel free to also complete the relevant surveys below, especially if you feel that you had more to say:

    • Part of a Multi-Site Product Suite? If you operate multiple sites under the same company, or have a product that’s part of a larger product family with different domains (origins), see the "Multi-Site Mastery" survey.

    • Acts Like an Embedded Service? If your projects include things like a service/widget/library that other sites integrate with, see the "Integrations Insights" survey.

    • Enterprise / Edu or other managed devices context? If your projects are targeted at, or used within, a device managed context, see the "Managed Devices Magic" survey.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey(s) that best reflects your primary context or interest. We also encourage you to share these surveys with colleagues or other developers who might have valuable insights on client-side AI.

Understanding the real-world needs and challenges faced by developers like you is essential to identify compelling opportunities for evolving the platform to support you and your use cases!
Thanks in advance for sharing your insights.
