It looks like the bug was solved, but there were some remaining issues that are affecting some developers still. We're working through the queue and I'm meeting with the team that handles this today to go over the list.

Thank you Joe. My extension gihcngphjjankfngmgdkihhngndcdflc is pending review again. So the last 4 times I published a version it got stuck waiting for a review. I think the first time it got stuck was after I updated the extension 2 or 3 times within 1 hour or so. Hope it helps resolving the issue.

A little known feature lets you load an extension in unpacked mode but force it to have a specific id by first installing the extension normally and copying the 'key' field from the manifest before uninstalling, then placing that key value into your unpacked source's copy of the manifest before loading it.

Both your content.js and options.js files are 1MB.

This size is not common for a javascript file, I am sure it raises some alarms and triggers the review.

It seems to contain some kind of dictionaries about lots of things, and is probably required to generate text.

Wondering if you could find a way to reduce the file size, maybe externalize some files and instead access what is needed through an API call?

Or at least split the JS files containing logic, and the files containing pure dictionary data (maybe use an external JSON file).

Because with such a huge file containing javascript code + dictionary data together, it is harder to review.

Hopefully it will be reviewed soon.

Manual reviews may take up to a whole week depending on how many extensions are waiting in line. Even if you change nothing more than your extension's description, you still have to stand in line for days.

You'll have to be patient.

Same here - typically, once i uploaded an extension, it will go to Publishing in Progress and then 10-15 minutes later, it would be Published.

Starting a week or so ago, instead of Publishing In Progress it goes to Pending Review but still, 10-15 minutes later, it would be Published.

Yesterday, i uploaded a handful and all are still "stuck" in Pending Review (12 hours later).  I dont think this is a manual review but CWS must be making changes on backend?

Same issue for me, Stuck on Pending Review for over 12 hours. I've seen others reporting on this group about getting the same problem and it seems to take 7 to 10 days for it to get finally published. That's a ridiculous amount of time to wait for the update to apply.

This is a very annoying issue and the fact that we have no idea on why it's triggered or how long it would take for it to be published is an even bigger problem.

My "Unlisted" extension has been pending review for over a day already. Never had it require being reviewed before. Attempted to publish a new extension under "Private" for testing and that ended up requiring it to be reviewed too. Whats going on here?

Your listing states that the last publish occurred on June 30, 2019, so I'm going to assume this went through a little after your post. While Chrome Web Store does not have SLAs for review, 7 days is the high end of what I'd expect a review to take.

I am also stuck in "Pending Review" hell.

I added the "allhosts" permission to my manifest which put it in review.  After a few days I reverted back to my original permission but it stayed in Pending Review.  I couldn't find a way to reset it.

I have since reverted again to "allhosts" (since that's what I need ultimately) since apparently I have to wait no matter what I do.

I'm now worried that every time I make a minor update to my extension it's going to take at least a week for my users to see the changes.

That's correct.

When you add the "<all_urls>" permission to your extension, it will be manually reviewed every single time you make a change. It doesn't matter how small that change is.

Even you change nothing but a single typo in your extension's description, it will be scheduled to be manually reviewed again.

Those reviews take between 3 and 5 business days.

It's unfortunate that the Web Store Team insists in doing that for such small changes, but it's the way it is.

Hi Joe,

+1 on this issue. We had a version that was stuck on Pending Review, so we decided to Unpublish that version and it unlisted our chrome extension. Preferably, we would have rather it just rolled back to the previous version but now our customers can't access our extension. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/segment-visual-tagger/ahofbpemlckjfmcebnanjmkhpcmnbjia is now unaccessible and has a Pending Review status.

William, could you elaborate on "stuck in review"? How long has it been since you published the draft?

As you unfortunately discovered "unpublish" means "remove from the web store." Once the extension successfully completes review it will return to the store.

Hi Simeon,

Appreciate the response! We had published an update (0.3.9) at ~3:00 PM PST on Friday. Today, we published another update (0.3.10) and realized the previous version (0.3.9) was still under review, which was uncommon due to our review cycles being relatively quick with previous updates. As of right now, the extension is unlisted and is at version 0.3.8 and has a status of "Pending Review." We would love to have the 0.3.8 review to be finalized and listed back on the Chrome store again so we can continue our updates.
