The current implementation of webRequest provides the server's IP
address during the onRequestSent event. This can almost be used to
create a ShowIP-type extension, except for one problem: it never fires
when a page is pulled from the cache.

Would it be possible to either create a new event that fires during a
cache read, or add an "ip" field to one of the other events, such that
it gets set for both cached and uncached requests?

Note that Chrome already stores the remote IP in its cache, so it
should just be a matter of deciding how to export this information:

Sounds reasonable.  Could you make sure an issue is filed with this info on crbug.com?

Thanks,
~Arne
