Hi there,

I nominated my most recent extension "Design Copilot" - id "hgaldpfdgmmojgdlaiapgndeicgdbldp" for a featured badge.

To my disappointment and confusion it was rejected, with the message "your extension Design Copilot with ID: hgaldpfdgmmojgdlaiapgndeicgdbldp does not qualify for the Featured badge or merchandising eligibility because it doesn’t meet our compliance best practices."

I have put so much work into making this extension compliant and a great user experience. Heres a link to the extension

Can one of the team please give me specific feedback? I need to understand in what way my extension is not compliant, so I can rectify the issue. I checked my extension against all chrome policies and I adhere to all of them.

Oliver? Patrick? Can I get some insight here please

Long time extension developer. I develop new extension almost every month, and love the platform but this is very disappointing and not a good developer experience.

I'm sorry to hear that! If you contact One Stop Support they should be able to elaborate some for you.

Hey Patrick,

I got in touch with One Stop Support and they said they can't give me any feedback, I'm really struggling here trying to understand how my extension isn't compliant with best practices.
I've had a few of my extensions get the badge, so not sure whats going on here.

Could it be because my extension requires an API Key to use? It uses Google Gemini AI internally, but I get the user to "bring your own" API Key for that (A Google Gemini API Key). The API keys are free to obtain and have a generous free tier.

I don't want to be in a position where I have to bake an API Key into the product, because that opens me up for security risks and costs.

So what are my options here? Can someone elevate this so I can actually figure out how to rectify?

I intend to use extensions as a business eventually, but will struggle to do so if I can't get a featured badge.

Thanks,
Papillon

Would help me if someone could install my extension and try it out, and maybe that will reveal the issue? Heres a link https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/design-copilot/hgaldpfdgmmojgdlaiapgndeicgdbldp

I've installed it now. So I'll need a Gemini API-Key to actually try anything?
That for sure not great for testing and I'm not sure it meets the "user experience" requirement:
"The Featured badge is assigned to extensions that follow our technical best practices and meet a high standard of user experience and design."
Maybe if you named it "Design Copilot for Developers"? You are after all targeting people that has / knows / are willing to get an API key, which is like 0.00001% of the population. And featured extensions are usually super "easy to use".
This is just a personal opinion though.
