unlimited local storage

Is it true that we can have unlimited local storage using local
storage api in chrome .. the documentation says that normally 5mb is
the limit and when that option "unlimited_storage" in the permissions
option of manifest.json file.. just wanted to know whether people have
tried to store above 5mb limit.

I believe it is only for Web Database. Not LocalStorage.

I have gone through the web database api in wc3 .... Is the main
difference between web database and localstorage is that, in web
database data is stored in forms of tables in database and for local
storage data is stored just as variables.
