Hello there!

The Playwright team is looking into whether there's developer interest in testing Chrome extensions using Playwright. If this sounds interesting to you, please give a thumbs up in this GitHub issue.

There's little to no momentum in Puppeteer to implement full browser testing for extensions, so getting it implemented in Playwright would be great!!

Issue. Playwright. Thumbs up. Please. <3

Exciting! There's some relevant conversation going on in the WebExtension Community Group (issue 19) and on the ChromeDriver issue tracker (issue 3848). In the near future I plan to update the WECG issue with some info I've gathered on E2E and Unit testing gaps for extensions (just gotta find the time is all 😅).

FYI, looks like the doc link in the Playwright issue is broken. It appears that the ChromiumBrowser class is no longer supported. Here's a working Wayback Machine link: https://web.archive.org/web/20210216085808/https://playwright.dev/docs/api/class-chromiumbrowser/?_highlight=extension
