How to get an Extension Id from private key or command line from .crx file?

Hi all,
 
I need to get an extesnion id for extension installation purpose? I can create .crx file and trying to register extension Id in registry but I don't have an extension Id to create the registry key.

To get the ID of an extension:

1) Install the extension in chrome.
2) Go to the URL chrome://extensions/
3) Enable developer mode. If it is not already enabled, click "Developer
Mode" in the top right corner of the screen.
4) The ID of each extension is now listed under the extension's name. Find
the extension, and look for "ID: ....".

Thanks for your quick respone. I know this procedure, I wan to skip the manul step to launch the chrome and get the extension id. I want to get this id programatically or through some command line?
 
I am writing an installation piece for chrome extensions.

It's in Ruby. Anything available in JavaScript or C++? or any Chrome API?

Not from me, no. Shouldn't be too hard to translate into another language though, provided you've got OpenSSL support.
