(IMPORTANT) Free Software status for promoting extension in Google Ads

Good day. I am running an ad on a Google Chrome extension, but my ad was rejected due to "Free Software". Following Google Ads rules, I place a direct link to the chrome webstore with the extension, but for some reason my ad is rejected. The Google Ads policy states that the extension must be placed with an authorized distributor, which is the Chrome Webstore. I also want to note that ad rejection began after the recent Google Ads update. Please help me solve this problem, since I am not the only one experiencing this problem.

Hi Rachel!

You are saying the ad was rejected, not the extension, right?

If so, there isn't really must this group can do to help (other than advice other developers may be able to share). As a Googler, I suggest you bring it over to Ads Help.
