We are attempting to complete the new Developer Account verification process and are unclear as to how to proceed.   Our legal entity is that of a corporation (LeadLeaper) which matches the name with which we created our developer account.  However, the verification process requires a "Driver License, Passport, State ID or Green Card".

Furthermore, the verification process states that this information "will be shown to customers in your Chrome Web Store public listing".

Suggestions regarding how a company can satisfy the new verification requirement would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

Google's Play store team figured this out for companies so hopefully that information and technology will be shared with the Chrome Extensions team.

Hi,

It looks like you are going through the process for verification as an individual. Once you switch to an organization, you should be able to provide a DUNS number / other company documents instead. The best way to do this is to dismiss the dialog, switch to non-trader, and then opt-in as a trader again.

Apologies for the lack of heads up about this. I'm working with the team to make sure we share a broader update over the next day or so.

Let me understand,; now in order to open a developer account as an individual (not trader) I need to provide an identification document?
I hope it is not so.

This is only for accounts marked as a trader.

For non-traders, there are no verification requirements :)

We are currently experiencing the same problem. Our company, a corporation, cannot just submit one ID of a person. How best to go about this process? Is there a way for us to undergo the verification process not as an individual but as a corporation?

Moreover, how long do we have before our publisher status be revoked? I hope we be given more time to finish the verification process.

Thank you.

If you dismiss the dialog, and switch to non-trader and then trader again, you should be taken back to the start of the process.

If you create a new payment profile in the first step with the "Organization" type, that should update the requested documents accordingly :)

We don't have a date for further enforcement yet but we're hoping to share a more detailed timeline soon. I know that is causing some uncertainty which isn't our intent.

Thanks Oliver.

Any update on how companies in countries that are not on the list for Google Payments will be able to verify as traders? When I try to verify our company as a trader, it shows me our company's two Google Payments profiles but they are grayed out and it says "Payments aren't accepted from the country you're located in" and I am also unable to create a new payment profile (Iceland is not in the list of countries there).

Best regards,
Jói

Hi Jói,

My understanding is that the list is based on countries accepted in the Chrome Web Store, so it should match the countries we accept registration from.

If you're not seeing that or are having other trouble I'd suggest using the One Stop Support form: https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/contact/one_stop_support

Hi,

I must to supply a phone number to verify my organization account. It says it will be shown to customers. Where will it be shown? I can't find any extension in the store where a phone number is shown...

Hi Mike,

It will be shown on the store listing page, near where it says "This developer has identified itself as a trader...".
