Hey everyone,

Been working on a few extensions and keep hitting a wall with marketing. I can drive traffic to the Chrome Web Store from a bunch of different places (reddit, Twitter etc.), but once a user lands on the store page, I'm completely blind.

I have no idea which channel is actually driving installs. I can see the total number of installs in the developer dashboard, but I can't connect it back to any specific campaign.

Is there a way to know source of installs?

Google Analytics, specifically GA4, will allow you to do this, it provides the ability to break down events (in this case installs), to see this data. Note that it does not track past historical data before it's linked up, only from that moment onwards.

Thanks,
Deco

To add to this, once you enable GA4 for the chrome store, you should use UTMs in your links. With that, you will be able to see where the traffic is coming from, as well as identify the "install" event, and which channels are working.
