Extension removed without notification or cause

Just today I received an email saying:

We regret to inform you that your item has been removed from the Chrome Web Store. Please find the details below.

Item name: Chessvision.ai Chess Position Scanner

Item ID: johejpedmdkeiffkdaodgoipdjodhlld

Violation(s):

We have not received an update from you on your Google Chrome item before the expiration of the warning period specified in our earlier email.

Because your item continues to not comply with our policies stated in the previous email, it has now been removed from the Chrome Web Store.


However, we didn't receive any previous email from Chrome Web Store mentioning any kind of a warning or expiration period. The extension averages around 500 daily installs and has over 200 reviews with an average rating of 4.6 out of 5.

The email mentions that we can use the Support Page but when I go there, it requires me to provide the violation reference ID mentioned in the previous email we didn't receive so I'm confused about what option should we pick. There is an option "I did not receive any communication" but it doesn't include any input field where I can write what happened.

I searched the group and it seems others are facing similar issues recently. Any advice on which option on the support page should we pick, or what to do in general, to have this issue resolved?

Is anyone from Google seeing this?

Here's how it went in my case. 

After receiving the email, I used the attached form and chosen the following options: "My item (extensions, app or theme)" -> "My item was warned/removed/rejected" -> "I did not receive any communication" -> "Do you require more help? Yes" and in the following text input I explained that my item was removed without any notification without mentioning the reason for the removal. I also asked for clarification. 

After 24h I received an email mentioning a violation, or what they thought the violation was. I did not agree with that and made an appeal by replying to their email with a detailed explanation and attached screencast. 

After another 24h my item was re-published and they sent an email with apologies.  

To sum up, I'm happy that the issue is resolved but the downside is that for over 2 days nobody could download the extension, and all download links were showing 404 for that period. I'd really appreciate it if the communication is improved before taking such serious actions like taking down the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
