I have successfully added my extension to Chrome using the Windows registry as outlined here, however, I have two concerns:
- The documentation states the Chrome scans the "...registry each time the browser starts. I found that the user has to use Task Manager to kill all instances of Chrome running in the background (or he has to go in to Chrome's advanced settings first and uncheck "Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed". Is there a way to avoid having to close all background processes?
- Once I kill all background processes and restart Chrome, my extension does show up in chrome://extensions, but unfortunately the extension is grayed out, not enabled. Is there a way to have the extension be enabled so the end user doesn't have to enable it manually? If not, can someone please point me to some documentation somewhere that explains why not?
Thanks!Anthony
