Abuse from competitors

Hello, 

Just wanted to check if anybody got a similar situation. We just released our chrome extension and our competitors are noticing and coming to our extension to leave 1 star reviews (yep that's how petty they are). Obviously as we just launched these reviews affect our reputation badly. Even worst they lower our overall score and dilute from the genuine reviews.

We got a 1 star review from the CEO of a competitive app and now he told his team to come in and put more 1 star reviews.

Wanted to see if anybody dealt with that before and what was the best way to go about it? I obviously don't want to start a petty contest between the 2 of us.

It's sad to say, but there are a lot of fake reviews everywhere :/

For example, I was using Great Suspender, before it was removed, so some Russian "hacker" uploaded this version:

as you can see, 91 reviews, while you can read just 7. Only 3 are in English, all others are Russian fake reviews. I don't know how it works, but it's strange that Google cannot detect fake reviews and stop such "developers" if I can call them so.

We have the same situation for a long time > 5 years. The worst thing is that those who do this have their own people in the store or at Google. They constantly defaming our extensions.  I  can't even post on our extension, my post just doesn't appear in the recent section at all. I'm not even talking about ratings...They can update their extensions within a very short period of time, we should wait, wait and wait. Good products are not needed here. If you have a viral app, monopoly will never allow you to gain many users/ratings, etc. you will be in a total sandbox. At one point, a million users were simply taken away from the one of our extension and nobody knew why...
