Can we show ads in extension side par

My extension features a sidebar popup that appears whenever a user interacts with it. Since there is unused space in this popup, I would like to monetize it by displaying third-party ads. 

I have attached a screenshot of the pop-up, highlighted with a red arrow for reference. Could you please guide me on the best way to implement ads in this area to generate revenue, as my extension is currently offered for free?
