Hello there,

I am trying to create a chrome extension that updates the home page and adds a new search engine after requesting the user’s permission.

I was looking at the chrome_settings_overrides key in the manifest but I guess that is only available for Windows. When I add it I get a warning “There were warnings when trying to install this extension:'chrome_settings_overrides' is not allowed for specified platform.”

What is the preferred way to add this functionality to a Chrome extension on the Mac ? This is a really important feature for our product and any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Harsha

For the default home page I believe it can be achieved using the chrome_url_overrides key in the manifest. However there is no way to enable/disable it via the extension.

It would be great if we could have some APIs in JavaScript using which we could enable/disable homepage/default search engines.

Thanks!
