Sporadic 'extension must be repaired' amognst users

Hey folks, 

As our extension's usage and code base has increased, we've noticed that some users when updating get the warning that the 'extension has been corrupted', It seems to only affect a very small subset of users and we can't identify the root cause

I've seen two users reported "extension may have been corrupted" issue, and both reports are from this year.

But it looks like it's nothing new:

I have a question though, what does the "Repair" button do?

I would guess it's clearing storages/IndexedDB, but will it clear also "storage.sync" area?

Thanks all for reporting the behavior! 

In order to figure out why this could be happening, we just changed the logging behavior around this bit of code. If anyone sees this now on a version of Chrome >= 138.0.7180.0, it would be wonderful if you could send in the extension ID and our engineering team can pour over the logs to get to the bottom of it.
