I would like to have a question and getting support about minimum Chrome version for adding to Chrome on the Chrome web store.

I am developing the Chrome extension, and currently this extension is under published to testers on the Chrome Web store.

I define the "minimum_chorme_verion" is 102 into the manifest of this extension, but if the Chrome version is less than 109, "To add this item to Chrome, please update your browser" message is shown on the Chrome web store.

The Chrome version I checked is the following.
107.0.5304.110 Message is shown.
108.0.5359.172 Message is shown.
109.0.5414.125 OK (No message , able to add to Chrome)
110.0.5481.181 OK (No message , able to add to Chrome)

Does the Chrome web store have minimum Chrome version?
Or do I need to have any settings in this extension?

I'm not sure and want to let me know the reason of shown this message on the Chrome web store.

I already contacted to the [Chrome Web Store Developer Support] team about it ,then they responded as below. So I post this thread.

Hello Yoshihihko,

Thank you for reaching out to Chrome Web Store Developer Support. (*We only offer support in English, so I'll be using Google Translate to help us out. Let me know if I've misinterpreted anything.)

The Chrome Web Store Developer Support team is primarily focused on the Chrome Web Store and extension publishing. Extension development is outside of our area of expertise.

Developers regularly discuss extension development on the Chromium Extensions group. Members of Chrome's extensions development team also post there and answer developer questions.

With that being said, I believe that the Chrome Version 88 could be the minimum requirement for the CWS to support. But once again, it might have been changed to a higher version, so I'd highly encourage you to ask in the Chromium Extension Group for further information. They will be better able to help you there.

I appreciate your understanding and please let me know if there's anything else. :)

Warm regards,
Yukie

Hi Yoshihiko,
You do not need to set any value, this is only needed if you want to prevent users of older chrome from accessing the extension.

The minimum version for web version of the Chrome Web Store is 109. Extensions installed via policy from the Chrome Web Store are not impacted by this, but will respect a minimum_chrome_version.

Hi Patrick

Thank you for your quickly response.

I understood as below.
The minimum Chrome version for adding extensions to Chrome on the Chrome web store is 109.
Extensions installed via policy are not impacted by this.

I am sorry for my insufficient research.
I found the following web site documented the scope of Chrome Web store which you responded.

It is close for this thread.
If I need to have other getting support,  I will post this group.

I look forward to your continued cooperation and support in the future.

Yoshihiko.
