Hello!

We came across an update in Chrome that adds support for saved tabGroups.
However, from some experimentation we see that we cannot query saved tabGroups using the tabGroups API when it is hidden.

Are there any plans to:
- Query saved but hidden tabGroups (for example, to surface in a custom bookmarks bar).
- Introduce an attribute to infer whether a given tabGroup is saved.

Yes, this is a critical request.

Besides:
1. Even when a saved tab group is loaded, we do not have the ability to collapse and expand it through the API.
2. Even when the saved tab group is loaded, we cannot activate the tab from the saved group.
3. We cannot change the safety parameter for the group.

For extensions that provide tab manager functionality, it is critical to reproduce the full functionality of the browser. Now, we are one step further from the baseline.

Yes please, I second this. It would be greatly appreciated if chrome extensions could get more support with regards to interacting with saved tab groups. Thank you.

Hi all,

There have been a few conversations about this in other threads but I wanted to post here as well.

Currently there are some restrictions on interacting with tabs in saved tab groups in any way - we're working on making that less restrictive so you can work with them as normal tabs.

I'm not aware of any plans to update the tabGroups API with more information around the state. It sounds like a reasonable request though so by all means feel free to open a bug if you aren't able to find an existing one.
