Could anyone comment if they are using this as a monetization in their addon? I haven't seen the actual integration SDK, but the company at least seems legit: https://infatica.io/sdk-monetization/

Love to hear thoughts,
F

I have not looked at the link, but in general I would strongly caution developers against accepting payment in exchange for loading a third party library. As the extension's publisher, you are ultimately responsible for the code your extension executes and CWS review has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to malware.

Thanks Simeon, this is very useful to know. I'm aware that almost every email I get about script injections is a form of scam, but 9 out of 10 times its easy to tell just by looking at who is originating these. I was confused this time as this is a well funded VC backed startup.

As a side question: I've an addon in the pending review queue and its been there unusually long, a month now. Is it possible to get an update? Thanks! Extension id:  mcekoomonmjnaihhinkkhofcbagjjbff

Hi,

I was also contacted by Infatica regarding my chrome-extension and I'm wondering what other users experience is?
If you ended up trying their SDK please let me know.

Thank you.

Hey all,

This post is 100% my personal opposition and does not reflect the views of Google.

Any time a 3rd party service pays you to use them, I'd strongly encourage you to consider their incentives and motivations. What benefit do they recieve if you use their library/service? How do you think they monetize? How do they afford the payouts to developers?

Please keep in mind that Chrome Web Store policies do not allow developers to use the data their extensions can access for any reason other than it's expressly stated purpose. This restriction applies to all code executed by your extension, including that provided by 3rd parties. Ultimately you are responsible for the code you publish. If a violation is found, your extension will be impacted but the 3rd party likely won't be.

IMO if a deal seems too good to be true, chances are it is.
