href not working when clicked in pop-up window

so i created a simple extension to link users to a page when a button it clicked. the with the buttons opens up when a new tab opens and the buttons work there but when i click on the extension in the top right, the pop-up window opens and i click the button that should open a link but nothing happens. any suggestions?

I too had issue , on popup.html, when a button is clicked, runs a java script followed by showing results on a new window.. but it opens a window with no content on it... in debug mode it works but not on free run..

Do you see any error in the console?

You can see the console for the popup by right clicking on the toolbar button and select "Inspect popup".
