The maximum size of the message sent to the native messaging host is 64 MB.

The old limit was 4 GB but the new one is 64 MB?

Was this communicated anywhere? I just want to make sure we don't miss such important changes.

Hi Salmin,

Good spot!

This was not an implementation change, but I recently updated the page to accurately document the limit. The limit has been 64MB for many years but 4GB was incorrectly mentioned in the documentation.

What about Firefox and Safari? The MDN docs say 4 GB: https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/Native_messaging

And what happens exactly in Chrome when there is an attempt to send a native message of over 64 MB?
