My chrome extension seems stuck in review?

My extension was recently taken down for a Purple Nickel violation.

I made necessary updates to my Privacy Policy and resubmitted it, and had a quick response within ~12 hours, but got a rejection with a different violation Purple Potassium - the violation stated that I had requested for permissions (notifications) un-used by my app.

This made sense because we had previously temporarily removed some app functionality on notifications because we were working on iterating that feature in our app. We didn't catch this policy violation earlier because, the version with the commented out notification functionality was previously already approved and published by the Chrome Web Store (before the Purple Nickel violation takedown)

Since we do in fact want to have that feature rather than removing it entirely, I added it back into the code, explicitly requested users to grant us permissions for notifications, and re-submitted the extension (hence no longer requesting un-used permissions)

I submitted this latest version 5 days ago and it is still in-review, is there any chance it got stuck somewhere or is it normal that this is now taking a long time to process?

This feels much longer than I expected given that all previous reviews of my extension including when i originally / first submitted it took 1-3 days.

I'm really anxious because we have thousands of paying users depending on this being resolved, is there anything I can do besides waiting on the review to complete?

Appreciate any advice!

Leo

Hey Leo,
It is not unusual for it to take that long, especially when submitted right before a weekend. I can confirm that the item is in the review queue and proceeding through the system

thank you for your patience!

Same for me! Mine was submitted on 11th March and it shows it was last updated on 13th, today is 17th and it is still showing as Pending Review. Any reason as to why it is so late?

Hey Patrick, thanks for the clarification, any chance you could shed any more light on how long more we should expect the review to take?

We're losing thousands of dollars each day our extension remains in take down mode so getting really anxious 😵

Really appreciate any further insight you can provide on our situation!

Hi,

Same for me:)

We submitted our extension for review on March 14th. Is there any chance it could be ready by Sunday? It is very important for our upcoming timeline.

For context, the Edge version has already passed review and is live in the Microsoft Store.

Thanks in advance,
Tamar

I am pretty sure it is due to how many people each day upload a extentsion each day. Should take some time, but you can not really tell or figure out when it will be finally released. It could even stay under review forever. Just don't lose hope.

I’m reaching out to see if anyone else is experiencing extreme delays with the Chrome Web Store review process lately.

I submitted an update for my extension on March 3rd, and it has been sitting in "Pending Review" for over 17 days now. I have already opened a support ticket to inquire about the delay, but the response was a generic template asking me to keep waiting.

This creates a significant bottleneck for developers who need to push critical updates or fixes. It's frustrating when there is no transparent way to track the progress or understand what is causing the hold-up.
