Hi,

At my workplace a chrome extension has been developed to be utilised
on every computer by every windows account. A clone is being prepared
with all the software to be installed on each and every PC and this
clone will be installed on around 700 PC's. Google Chrome in Pack
(http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?answer=118663) has
been installed successfully on the clone, however, when installing the
chrome extension, it is installed only for the windows user currently
logged in. If anyone else logs on the same PC with a different
account, the extension is not installed. Is there a way to install an
extension for all users rather than for each individual user?

Thanks
Aa

I think that if you deploy using the windows registry[1] the extension will be installed for all users.  At least the key is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, so that's what I'd expect.

the chrome extension lives as a directory for the current user.  maybe you could copy the extension folder to that location.  for me it is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Tom\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions

an extension can be installed as a "one click" when hosted on a trusted site.  maybe you could run some javascript which does the click and causes it to be installed.  or have a web page where new users go, and they click on a few things.

chrome extension installation does not require restart of the browser or windows, so asking each user to click one link on their new system seems reasonable.
