Hey,

I recently received a response from Google regarding my request for the Featured Badge for my extension, “FB-Group-Bulk-Poster.” Unfortunately, my request was denied, stating that my extension doesn’t meet their compliance and quality standards, and I can’t resubmit it at this time.

Honestly, I’m really confused.
The extension runs smoothly without any bugs, and I have nearly 700 active users who have never reported any issues. All the images in the listing are clear, the copy is relevant and aligned with the niche, and the extension is built using Manifest V3 as required.
The only possible reason I can think of is that the extension icon doesn’t match the icon at the top of the listing page because I’m currently running some tests.

Other than that, everything seems in perfect order, and I have no idea what else might have caused the rejection.
If anyone has been through a similar situation or has any advice, I’d greatly appreciate your help. Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hi Klyra,

I would expect your extension to be considered a "bot" and those are specifically excluded from the types of extensions that can receive the featured badge: https://developer.chrome.com/docs/webstore/program-policies/featured-products

I realise that might be disappointing, but I expect it explains the response you received.

Thank you so much for your quick response and for taking the time to explain. I really appreciate your help!

However, after reviewing similar extensions on the Chrome Web Store, I noticed that several other extensions, using the same or very similar automation technologies but applied to different platforms, have indeed received the Featured Badge. Some examples include:

  • Axiom Browser Automation & Web Scraping
  • Browserflow – Web Scraping & Web Automation
  • SocialPilot – which, by the way, performs a very similar function to my extension
  • Buffer – while using different technologies, it operates on a similar concept.

Given these examples, I’m finding it difficult to understand what specifically disqualifies my extension from being featured. If there’s any further clarification you could provide, or if there’s something specific I could improve to meet the required standards, I’d be genuinely grateful for your guidance.

Thanks again for your time and support. I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Klyra,

I'm afraid there isn't anything more I can add here.

Reviews for the featured badge are carried out by a different team, and they ultimately make the decision on if an extension is eligible. We can't comment on the decisions made on other extensions.

Apologies for not being able to offer more insight.

Thank you again for your response and for helping me better understand the situation. Given the examples I shared earlier, I was wondering if you might have any additional recommendations for me—whether it's something specific I could modify in my extension, improve in the listing, or even a process to appeal this decision.

I genuinely want to ensure my extension meets the highest standards and aligns with Chrome Web Store policies. If there's anything I can do to make it eligible for the Featured Badge in the future, I’d greatly appreciate your guidance.
