Hi there,

I've read a couple of entries in this group and from what I understand, the support for Manifest V2 will last at least a year after Manifest V3 reaches stable.

However, what does "reaching stable" exactly mean, when is that??
Is that when it was announced (Nov/Dec 2020) or when Chrome 88 reached stable (Jan 2021) or a date in the future when Manifest V3 will be announced as stable?

Since we're already almost 6 months into 2021, support for Manifest V2 could potentially be dropped with Dec 2021, therefore some clarity on the matter would be highly appreciated.

Thx for the help!

My understanding from discussions here and posts elsewhere (which I've shared with my team) is that we should have a minimum of a year from the time that MV3 support is included in the stable release of Chromium.

That was on January 19th of 2021, and so it seems to me that MV2 extensions should work at least through January 19th of 2022.

There are so many deep flaws in MV3 which are blockers to most extensions being made (e.g., the "service worker dying after 5 mins" issue) that it seems incredibly unlikely that we would be moved to MV2 as suddenly as November.
