Hi everyone,

We are concluding the transition to Manifest V3 with the removal of all remaining Manifest V2 extensions from the Chrome Web Store on August 31, 2026. If you still have an active Manifest V2 extension that has yet to be migrated, please follow our migration guide to keep your extension active and available.

Items will remain available in the Developer Dashboard, but we strongly recommend that you export relevant metrics and any other critical developer information tied to your extension before August 31, 2026.

Thanks,
Oliver on behalf of Chrome Extensions DevRel

Will you remove extensions that have an MV3 upgrade still pending in review by that date due to a huge influx of belated submissions?

Hi woxxom,

I don't expect that to be an issue in practice. Review times have come down significantly since earlier in the year, and even at the peak, an item submitted now would have been reviewed with more than enough time to meet the deadline. There has also been plenty of warning about the MV2 deprecation before this point.

I would encourage anyone concerned about the specific situation you described to submit as soon as possible.
