Hi all,

I’m excited to announce that we have just updated the new Chrome Web Store with some of the extensions you submitted using the self-nomination form we shared previously.

The following extensions have been added on the home page under “Chrome Editors' spotlight”:
Congratulations to all of the above! We have also added these to the main Editors’ Picks collection.

Thank you to everyone who submitted their extension, even if you weren’t picked. We received a large number of submissions and we could only pick a small selection of them.

That said, we read all your submissions. I heard from across the Chrome Extensions and Chrome Web Store team about how inspiring some of the stories were and how appreciative everyone was of the time taken by developers who made a submission.

The level of interest here definitely shows an enthusiasm to have more opportunities like this and we plan to keep including this community in our merchandising efforts in the future.

Thanks,
Oliver on behalf of Chrome Extensions DevRel

Hey there! It's Scott from Text Blaze.

Wow, being featured feels absolutely amazing! We love the Chrome Extension platform and Web Store for what it does for users and developers like us. It's allowed us at Text Blaze to save users from countless hours of repetitive typing.

A big thanks to Oliver and team! 🙌

Oliver, thank you so much for letting the community know about the results 🙏!

It's strange that not a single sidebar extension or one of the AI assistants was selected 🤔.

Thanks for the feedback Uladzimir. As I'm sure you can understand, we had a lot of submissions - and there are too many categories to try and pick an extension from each. We already have a number of AI extensions in the collection (and I suspect a few side panel ones, but I don't know for sure). I definitely hope we can continue to add more extensions in the future.

Oliver, can you please share more on how the process will look like further? Like, if we applied and were not selected this time, do we need to re-apply later or how will it work?

Hi Alex,

I don't have anything specific to share there at the moment.

I'm definitely passing along the high level of interest though :)

Oliver, thanks for the update! I appreciate the transparency. This is what this community needs and lacked in previous periods, I think.

Hope the team will take this into consideration--this is really important for developers to see that their work will be recognized at some point (and when this might be more or less exactly) and not only bigger or hype extensions will be promoted. Like, for example ours (Linguix) combines values and features of both HelperBird and TextBlaze (which are great apps for sure!) and goes beyond and our users are happy according to reviews. So we believe if more people would know about our product, that would make their lives easier and give us more resources to develop faster.

We've just updated this section on the home page with some new extensions from the submissions:

Thanks again for all of the nominations. We weren't initially planning anything beyond the initial launch but given the number of high quality extensions, have been periodically revisiting the list.

Hi Oliver,

If there's going to be more extensions featured this way, can you reopen submissions to the list? I would have submitted my extension (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/checkbot-seo-web-speed-se/dagohlmlhagincbfilmkadjgmdnkjinl) but missed the post.

Thanks,

Sean Wilson

Yes same here, unfortunately missed the cut off day but I would love to nominate a couple of my extensions!

Hi both,

I spoke to the team and we agreed that it doesn't make sense to re-open the form right now. It isn't particularly discoverable and we want to establish a proper process for this.

We do definitely want to keep finding ways to do similar things, so I don't think this will be the last opportunity. I certainly don't want the list we have to be the only extensions with a chance of being featured.

Thanks for bearing with us!

Hi Thomas,

The form is open again and we're actively picking extensions from it each month.

I hope that helps :)

Is this still open? When I go to the one-stop-shop, I dont see any option for spotlight under 'My item'. Is there somewhere else I need to fill up.

Can you elaborate Oliver? Sorry if I missed anything.

Hi William,

To be eligible, you'll need the featured badge. You can apply for that using "My item > I want to nominate my extension to receive a Featured badge and be eligible for merchandising".

Once you've done that, you can submit your extension using the form here: https://developer.chrome.com/docs/webstore/discovery#chrome_monthly_spotlight
